The defending champion Sri Lanka will play against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the 6th match of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 on Tuesday, October 18, 2022, at Simonds Stadium, Geelong. Sri Lanka will play their first match against Namibia on October 16, 2022. There was only one Twenty20 encounter between the two sides, and Sri Lanka won by a wide margin.
Sri Lanka and Namibia will play the opening T20 World Cup match on October 16 (Sunday). This year's first-round matches will feature eight clubs.
There are a total of 16 teams, split evenly between two groups; the top two teams from each group will advance to the Super 12 round, which will start on October 22. India, Australia, Afghanistan, England, South Africa, Pakistan, New Zealand, and Bangladesh are just some of the eight teams that have already qualified for the main competition.
In the 2016 T20 Asia Cup's second match, Sri Lanka defeated the United Arab Emirates by 14 runs after the island nation scored 129 runs in its allowed 20 overs. There have been no One-Day Internationals or Tests played between Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates.
